• 3 million children are reported to Child Protective Services in the U.S. every year
  
  
• About 1,000,000 children are confirmed victims of child abuse/neglect each year
  
  
• Abuse/neglect is the 2nd most common chronic disease of childhood
  
  
• Of those cases confirmed, 54 percent were neglect, 19 percent were physical abuse, 10 percent were sexual abuse, 3 percent were emotional maltreatment, and 14 percent were due to other forms of maltreatment.
